Highlights:
Gorgeous early 5 strings musicman bass in great condition .
The black finish has barely a mark and the neck is as good as it gets.
These early 5 still have lacquered necks and metal battery cover, some of the original features from the early days of the stingray bass.
Frets in good condition, neck really comfortable and the tone is ridiculously good.
The original preamp and pickups works like new.
It’s definitely in amazing condition for a 32 years old instrument.
Good weight , sitting around 4.5 kg.

Superb example of early 70s rickenbacker , all original and with rare toaster pickup, checkerboard binding and long triangle inlays,

Some filled holes behind the headstock indicating it had different tuners at some point but the original ones are back on it and they are perfectly functional.

This is not just a Ken Smith bass, it is a foundational document of the modern electric bass. This BT4 (Body Top) model from 1981 bears the extraordinarily low Serial #074, placing it among the very first instruments ever produced by Ken Smith.

The Fodera / New York Luthiery Connection

This bass was handcrafted during the crucial period when legendary luthier Vinnie Fodera worked directly with Ken Smith in New York.

To own this BT4 #074 is like to acquire the heritage and craftsmanship of the “Genesis” of boutique basses.

It features the coveted metal medallion on the headstock, the definitive mark of early production excellence.

If you are looking for that thick, percussive “growl” that catapulted Ken Smith to global fame, this is it.

The combination of early-80s woods and original Bill Lawrence pickups produces an aggressive, punchy tone that is dominant on stage and crystal clear in the studio.

Note on Electronics:

The original HAZ preamp received professional maintenance a few years ago and is in perfect working order, delivering the signature high-fidelity Smith sound without issues.

A very rare bass , completely hand made in New Zealand by the genius of Tomm Stanley . They are made using a very unique design and locally sourced timber. Comes with the original branded gig bag Here is a full description from the Stonefield website Topwood: Cypress Fingerboard: Solomon Island Ebony Fingerboard Markers: Burghundy within White Gem Dots Fingerboard Radius: Zero Hardware: Titanium/blue Binding: – fine line: Australian Blackwood Sap – thick edge: Jarrah Nut: Jarrah Back of Neck Finish: Natural An M Series with a twist; This one was built to a unique set of specifications and is one of only two basses we’ve ever built with a zero-radius fingerboard and a centre veneer on the front covering the laminates of the through-body core. It has also been sprayed in a matte satin clear and has a Funk Plate and Ramp, both veneered in tiger myrtle to match the jarrah binding and bridge. String Spacing: Classic (approx 19mm between strings at the bridge) Due to the low serial number, a unique build and the addition of customer requested mods, this bass has true potential for collectibility. A few notes: This is only the second bass we’ve made with a zero radius fingerboard. Note the cypress veneer over the laminates in the centre of the body. This is only the second instrument on which we’ve veneered over the laminates. In addition to the Funk Plate a ramp has been added between the rear pickup and bridge. PRICE REDUCED – 1968 Fender Precision Bass in Rare Candy Apple Custom Finish With Original Hard Case

Nitro finish, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and black bobbins pickups ( all features from the early preCBS days, but 68 was a transition year at Fender and they used all the leftovers, making some of the best instruments ever made). Let’s not forget those gracious and rare Oval tuners aka Lollipop or Paddle, which were only available on the early 1968 Pbasses. Beside a new nut and a replaced screw on one of tuners, this instrument is completely original, with untouched solder joints, both covers still on and comes inside the original Stamford case. 1979 US GUILD B50 ACOUSTIC BASS WITH ORIGINAL HARD CASE

All original and with the original hard case, this bass is by many considered the best acoustic bass ever produced. Extremely rare as only a few hundreds of these have been made in the US between 1975 and 1987.

1963 Fender Jazz Bass in Sunburst finish – Pre CBS – With Original Case

The alder body is resonant and light, finished in a beautiful 3 colour sunburst where the red hasn’t faded and still nice and vibrant. The pickguard doesn’t have cracks or the common snapped horns and doesn’t show signs of shrinking. The original 1963 pots work without scratches and the black bobbin pickups sounds delightful. Straight neck with a fully functional trussrod and a nice and smooth profile , so comfortable to play. Pickups covers in great condition as the rest of the original hardware. 1991 MUSICMAN STINGRAY BASS IN AMAZING CONDITION WITH ORIGINAL CASE

Highlights:
Here we have a gorgeous example of early musicman stingray bass.
Made in USA in 1991, this bass has a lot of the features of the pre ernieball stingrays and it’s one of the last with the thin and lacquer finished neck, soon replaced in 93 with the modern unfinished oil rubbed satin chunky neck.
Another great feature is the early high mass bridge with the original Musicman mute system and the metal battery lid later replaced with plastic.
4.4 Kg , so not an heavy one either.
A very clean and gorgeous bass, especially for a 35 years old instrument.
