Superb example of early 70s rickenbacker , all original and with rare toaster pickup, checkerboard binding and long triangle inlays,

Complete with original black tolex hard case, this instrument is the quintessential Ricky, and a rare one too.

Light weight , low action, thunderous tone and in incredible condition, especially considering this beauty is 53 years old.

Some filled holes behind the headstock indicating it had different tuners at some point but the original ones are back on it and they are perfectly functional.

A phenomenal player and great collector piece.

1963 Fender Precision Bass in Sunburst Finish With Fender Hard Case – PRE CBS

Here is the, the Holy Grail of Bass: a stunning 1963 Fender Precision Bass.

This one is in great condition, with a spectacular tone and feel , great for players or any collector.

All hardware and electronic is completely original , with the legendary  black bobbin pickups and pots dated 49th week of 1963.

The bass has been in restored by the one and only Jeff Mallia,  who put new frets , touched up and polished the original finish and oiled the back of the neck to give it a smoother feel.

The original tort pickguard is absolutely stunning  and the original bridge and pickup covers are still on.

The neck profile is amongst the best I have experienced and the bass is light as a feather.

One of the nicest rickenbacker I have ever played , all original , light weight and an absolute stunner.

The checking on the finish is something no custom shop could ever replicate.

The neck is slim and action is slow with a superb playability. Classic Ricky thunderous tone with that clarity and growl typical of these instruments.

The original electronic works perfectly and the original hard case is in very nice condition with all the latches still fully functional.

1992 MUSICMAN STINGRAY BASS IN AMAZING CONDITION WITH ORIGINAL CASE

Highlights:
Here we have a gorgeous example of early musicman stingray bass.
Made in USA in 1992, this bass has a lot of the features of the pre ernieball stingrays and it’s one of the last with the thin and lacquer finished neck, soon replaced in 93 with the modern unfinished oil rubbed satin chunky neck.
Another great feature is the early high mass bridge with the original Musicman mute system and the metal battery lid later replaced with plastic.
A very clean and gorgeous bass, especially for a 34 years old instrument.

PRICE REDUCED – 1968 Fender Precision Bass in Rare Candy Apple Custom Finish With Original Hard Case

Absolutely stunning and very rare custom candy Apple Red finish for this 58 years old Fender Precision bass. Light and resonant , with a sublime neck profile and the perfect Pbass tone, this bass is just a work of art. Nitro finish, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and black bobbins pickups ( all features from the early preCBS days, but 68 was a transition year at Fender and they used all the leftovers, making some of the best instruments ever made). Let’s not forget those gracious and rare Oval tuners aka Lollipop or Paddle, which were only available on the early 1968 Pbasses. Beside a new nut and a replaced screw on one of tuners, this instrument is completely original, with untouched solder joints, both covers still on and comes inside the original Stamford case. This is not just a Ken Smith bass, it is a foundational document of the modern electric bass. This BT4 (Body Top) model from 1981 bears the extraordinarily low Serial #074, placing it among the very first instruments ever produced by Ken Smith.

The Fodera / New York Luthiery Connection

This bass was handcrafted during the crucial period when legendary luthier Vinnie Fodera worked directly with Ken Smith in New York.

To own this BT4 #074 is like to acquire the heritage and craftsmanship of the “Genesis” of boutique basses.

It features the coveted metal medallion on the headstock, the definitive mark of early production excellence.

If you are looking for that thick, percussive “growl” that catapulted Ken Smith to global fame, this is it.

The combination of early-80s woods and original Bill Lawrence pickups produces an aggressive, punchy tone that is dominant on stage and crystal clear in the studio.

Note on Electronics:

The original HAZ preamp received professional maintenance a few years ago and is in perfect working order, delivering the signature high-fidelity Smith sound without issues.

1968 RICKENBACKER 4001 BASS IN FIREGLO FINISH WITH ORIGINAL HARD CASE

Highlights:

Absurdly rare, these 60s rickenbacker 4001 basses are some of the most sought after instruments on the planet , and for a good reason.

Completely unmolested and inside the original case, this bass is something else.

Crushed pearl inlays, checkerboard binding , toaster pickup, horseshoe pickup, mono jack input , bigger headstock , reversed kluson tuners.

All features only available through the 60s and discontinued the following decade when production ramped up.

Apparently only 83 fireglo 68 4001 were produced and this is a perfect example of the craftmanship and attention to details of those days.

Phenomenal tone, great weight and really nice neck profile.

The original case has seen better days and has been over sprayed but it’s still there and that’s all it matters.

1979 MUSICMAN STINGRAY BASS – FRETLESS – WITH ORIGINAL CASE – LIKE PINO PALLADINO

Highlights:

Possibly the rarest and most iconic version of the musicman Stingray, completely original and with case, original strap and catalogue, this bass is not just just a rarity, but one of the most iconic bass guitars of all times. Just like the one Pino Palladino used in the 80s with Paul Young, this 1979 original fretless musicman Stingray comes from my personal collection and will be listed only for a limited time so if you are interested, don’t hesitate to contact me. I have owned this beauty for a few years now and I have looked after it, servicing it regularly and oiling the fretboard to make sure it stays nice and dark. The body is unreal with one of the nicest timber figuring I have seen on one of these pre Ernie ball basses. The Musicman black strap is extremely rare as well and so is the catalogue inside the original black tolex case. There is also a musicman brass buckle from 1978 inside the case. Ernie Ball has made a reissue of these which I have tried and let me tell you, it’s not quite the same. Regretful sale but I have just purchased an expensive bass and something has to go, although if I sell something else in the meantime I will take the listing down and put this gem back in my collection.

1963 Fender Jazz Bass in Sunburst finish – Pre CBS – With Original Case

Great weight, amazing tone, super comfortable neck profile, coveted Brazilian rosewood fretboard and a stunning 3 tone sunburst finish, all topped by the original rare cream tolex hard case, which was only made for less than a year. The alder body is resonant and light, finished in a beautiful 3 colour sunburst where the red hasn’t faded and still nice and vibrant. The pickguard doesn’t have cracks or the common snapped horns and doesn’t show signs of shrinking. The original 1963 pots work without scratches and the black bobbin pickups sounds delightful. Straight neck with a fully functional trussrod and a nice and smooth profile , so comfortable to play. Pickups covers in great condition as the rest of the original hardware. One for players and collectors.
