1979 MUSICMAN STINGRAY BASS – FRETLESS – WITH ORIGINAL CASE – LIKE PINO PALLADINO

Highlights:

Possibly the rarest and most iconic version of the musicman Stingray, completely original and with case, original strap and catalogue, this bass is not just just a rarity, but one of the most iconic bass guitars of all times. Just like the one Pino Palladino used in the 80s with Paul Young, this 1979 original fretless musicman Stingray comes from my personal collection and will be listed only for a limited time so if you are interested, don’t hesitate to contact me. I have owned this beauty for a few years now and I have looked after it, servicing it regularly and oiling the fretboard to make sure it stays nice and dark. The body is unreal with one of the nicest timber figuring I have seen on one of these pre Ernie ball basses. The Musicman black strap is extremely rare as well and so is the catalogue inside the original black tolex case. There is also a musicman brass buckle from 1978 inside the case. Ernie Ball has made a reissue of these which I have tried and let me tell you, it’s not quite the same. Regretful sale but I have just purchased an expensive bass and something has to go, although if I sell something else in the meantime I will take the listing down and put this gem back in my collection.

1963 Fender Precision Bass in Sunburst Finish With Fender Hard Case – PRE CBS

Here is the, the Holy Grail of Bass: a stunning 1963 Fender Precision Bass.

This one is in great condition, with a spectacular tone and feel , great for players or any collector.

All hardware and electronic is completely original , with the legendary  black bobbin pickups and pots dated 49th week of 1963.

The bass has been in restored by the one and only Jeff Mallia,  who put new frets , touched up and polished the original finish and oiled the back of the neck to give it a smoother feel.

The original tort pickguard is absolutely stunning  and the original bridge and pickup covers are still on.

The neck profile is amongst the best I have experienced and the bass is light as a feather.

1968 RICKENBACKER 4001 BASS IN FIREGLO FINISH WITH ORIGINAL HARD CASE

Highlights:

Absurdly rare, these 60s rickenbacker 4001 basses are some of the most sought after instruments on the planet , and for a good reason.

Completely unmolested and inside the original case, this bass is something else.

Crushed pearl inlays, checkerboard binding , toaster pickup, horseshoe pickup, mono jack input , bigger headstock , reversed kluson tuners.

All features only available through the 60s and discontinued the following decade when production ramped up.

Apparently only 83 fireglo 68 4001 were produced and this is a perfect example of the craftmanship and attention to details of those days.

Phenomenal tone, great weight and really nice neck profile.

The original case has seen better days and has been over sprayed but it’s still there and that’s all it matters.

The checking on the finish is something no custom shop could ever replicate.

Nitro finish, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and black bobbins pickups ( all features from the early preCBS days, but 68 was a transition year at Fender and they used all the leftovers, making some of the best instruments ever made). Let’s not forget those gracious and rare Oval tuners aka Lollipop or Paddle, which were only available on the early 1968 Pbasses. Beside a new nut and a replaced screw on one of tuners, this instrument is completely original, with untouched solder joints, both covers still on and comes inside the original Stamford case. The Masterbuilt line, Fender Custom Shop’s top tier series, features special instruments crafted under the personal supervision of a select group of highly skilled “Master Builders” from the Custom Shop, who take full responsibility for every step of the process, from wood selection to final adjustments.

This instrument is a Jazz Bass crafted by Master Builder Jason Smith.

Having studied under the legendary Master Builder John English and been involved in the creation of numerous artist models, Jason Smith is known as a builder who enjoys the deep trust of many top bassists, including Flea and Steve Harris.

Built in 2010, this instrument features a very light ash body, a gorgeous rosewood fingerboard with pearl block inlays , while incorporating modern features like string through and 5 screw neck plate, resulting in the unique specifications characteristic of a Master-Built instrument.

The use of a Fender string through bridge and lightweight tuning pegs achieves excellent body balance and a modern look.

Super comfortable neck profile, providing a solid, comfortable grip.

It has a perfect midrange presence and a mellow tone, yet it’s by no means a dark sound, instead it offers a well-defined, lively tone.

The sustain is incredibly pleasing.

The Masterbuilt sound is a cut above the regular line.

Perfect, not one mark or scuff equipped with the sought after original Flea high mass bridge with mutes. Gorgeous Birdseye maple neck and the sunburst finish is just spot on. Comes with the rare short tolex case which was only available for the first few months of production of this American Musicman Ernie Ball model. A great bass, as a player or collector piece. Renowned for its slightly smaller body and neck profile, the Sterling 4 string bass boasts a big sound. 1963 Fender Jazz Bass in Sunburst finish – Pre CBS – With Original Case

From the 4th year of production, this 61 years old Fender Jazz Bass is just perfection. Great weight, amazing tone, super comfortable neck profile, coveted Brazilian rosewood fretboard and a stunning 3 tone sunburst finish, all topped by the original rare cream tolex hard case, which was only made for less than a year. The alder body is resonant and light, finished in a beautiful 3 colour sunburst where the red hasn’t faded and still nice and vibrant. The pickguard doesn’t have cracks or the common snapped horns and doesn’t show signs of shrinking. The original 1963 pots work without scratches and the black bobbin pickups sounds delightful. Straight neck with a fully functional trussrod and a nice and smooth profile , so comfortable to play. Pickups covers in great condition as the rest of the original hardware. One for players and collectors.
